Simple Ways to Beat Mom Burnout

It is the exhaustion moms feel from always putting others first. Skipping sleep, meals, or “me time” can add up, leaving you tired, stressed, and not feeling like yourself. Taking care of yourself helps you care for everyone else.

1. Let others help.
As a mom, it is easy to feel like you must do it all. But asking for help—whether it is your partner, a friend, or a family member—can really lighten your load. Even small things, like having someone else handle dinner or bedtime, can give you a much-needed break. You do not have to do everything to be a great mom.

2. Do what makes you feel like you.
Motherhood can take over your time and energy, but do not forget what brings you joy. Read that book, join a class, or catch up with a friend. Little things you love can help you feel like yourself again.

3. Let go of the pressure.
Do not compare your life to what you see online. Your kids do not need perfection—they need your love. Focus on what really matters and give yourself grace when things are not picture-perfect.

4. Speak up.
Do not keep your feelings bottled up. Talk to your partner or another mom. Sharing how you feel can make a big difference. And if you are feeling deeply sad, anxious, or overwhelmed, it might be more than burnout—reach out to a healthcare provider for support. You are not alone, and help is available.
